Arjun

Arjuna was born when Indra, the god of heaven, blessed Kunti and Pandu with a son. From childhood, Arjuna was a brilliant student and was favoured by his beloved teacher, Drona. Arjuna is depicted as a skilled archer, winning the hands of Draupadi, who became the common wife of the Pandavas. Arjuna, one of the five Pandava brothers, who are the heroes of the Indian epic the Mahabharata. Arjuna, son of the god Indra, is famous for his archery (he can shoot with either hand) and for the magical weapons that he wins from the god Shiva. These 14 names of Arjuna (or Arjun) are Jishnu, Falguna, Arjuna, Vijaya, Kiritin, Swetavahana, Vibhatsu, Vijaya, Krishna, Savyasachin, Dhananjaya, Gudakesa, Partha or Paarth, Parantapa and Kapi-Dhwaja.

Arjuna was initially hesitant to wage war against his kin. But Krishna reminded him that one has to stand by Dharma (duty), even it meant going against one’s own family. Therefore, Arjuna had to fulfill his responsibility as a great warrior of Dharma. Abhimanyu is considered as his favourite son because he is nephew of krishna He is the kṣetra-ja son of Mahārāja Pāṇḍu. Queen Kuntīdevī could call for any one of the demigods, and thus she called Indra, and Arjuna was born by him. Arjuna is therefore a plenary part of the heavenly King Indra. He was born in the month of Phālguna (February-March), and therefore he is also called Phālguni. So he was the one who needed instruction. That was why Krishna gave him advice through the Gita. Arjuna fell at Krishna’s feet and wanted Krishna to clear his doubts. What Krishna told him through the Gita was Brahma Vidya.He is Kiriti, because Indra, the king of the celestials, placed a celestial crown on his head. He is called Swetavahana, because his horse is white (sweta) in colour. In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna addresses Krishna as Madhava (meaning “lord of fortune”; not to confused with a secondary name, Madhusudana, which means “slayer of the demon Madhu”). Babruvahana defeated Arjuna, and killed him with a powerful astra. Repenting his deed after knowing Arjuna’s identity, he was determined to kill himself, but he obtained from his stepmother, the Naga princess Ulupi, a gem called Nagamani, which restored Arjuna to life, with the help of Krishna.

Arjuna is one of the five brothers who are heroes in the Hindu epic, the “Mahabharata.” His story illustrates devotion to Lord Krishna, and their relationship symbolizes the inseparability of Universe and Soul. The name, Arjuna, comes from the Sanskrit meaning “bright,” “silver” or “shining.” Even though Krishna and Arjuna are first cousins – Krishna’s father and Arjuna’s mother were siblings – it is their friendship that dominates the narrative in the Mahabharata. Throughout the epic, Krishna serves as Arjuna’s friend, philosopher and guide. In Mahabharata , during the kurukshetra war Arjunas chariot had Lord Hanumans flag on it. Hanuman ji is a symbol of victory. Rama fought the war with the most prosperous kingdom of Sri Lanka. Rama fought with just a bunch of monkeys and just a few people with him.
